What is a VPS and how does it work?

 

A server (VPS) is a powerful computer that stores all data and files that make up your website. When someone types your domain name on their browser. That powerful 'computer' serves your website!
 
Now for the VPS: It uses some kind of VT(*1) (Virtualization Technology) to split that powerful server (which is called A Dedicated Server for the most of the time) into multiple virtual servers.
 
Your virtual server is reserved for you only. So you won't have to share any data with other users.
